COLEUS
Mysterious visitor.
harlequin heart,
multi-layered, subtle.
Nothing happens,
everything changes.
The state that is required is not altered but alert.
Turn attention to what exists, listen to what is being said.
Answers are here, not elsewhere.
Everything is talking to you, every sound is revealed.
Golden senses, cell sense, common sense, uncommon sense.
Be quiet,
listen,
settle down into the heart
of existence.
Whatever you seek
Is there.
Skill: Being silent
Failing: Being busy
Lesson: Resonance
You are looking too hard, expecting big signs in the wrong places.
Begin with small changes, see what happens. Subtlety!
Reality is as it is, it is your expectations that are mistaken.
Time and space –
Never too busy
To settle down
And fold
Themselves about you:
A coat of presence.
Coleus blumei (“painted nettle”) is similar in form to Diviner’s sage and is similarly used by the Mazatec Indians of Mexico. Originally from the Philippines, it is very familiar as a summer bedding plant popular for its striking, multi-coloured leaves. If allowed to grow and flower it produces white or lilac sage-like flowers on long spikes. It is reportedly used for divination by chewing fresh leaves or mixing with water. The effects are subtle, the active ingredients are not alkaloids, maybe diterpenes. Although mentioned in literature for the last thirty years at least, many still question its use and function.
