HENBANE:

Awareness of sentience: the world is whispering.

 Flying feet,

 mountain marching,

 sky- scraping,

 time and space.

Life,

 inhabiting form.

Individual illusion –

life dreaming of itself.

Enfoldment, involvement, enrapture, inclusion.

Do not allow human intellect to dictate what is and what is not of value or of use to you.

Small windows of clarity are more illuminating than vast masses of somnambulant thought.

As you watch the world, all in the world watch you – resonance, reciprocity.

Plants become animals,

people become plants,

plants eat stars and mountains,

fly through space,

seeds of awareness, ready to speak.

Skill: Involvement

Failing: Separation

Lesson: Magic

Henbane: There are two species, white (or yellow) henbane (Hyocyamus albus) and black henbane (Hyocyamus niger). The former is more common to the Mediterranean and Near East and has small yellow bell-flowers and small grey-green hairy leaves. The black henbane has a wider distribution in Europe and Asia and is a larger plant with drooping, toothed and rough, hairy leaves and a bell-flower of yellow green with purple veins. A member of the Solanaceae, it contains tropane alkaloids especially scopalamine, the main hallucinogenic chemical. It is traditionally associated with the magical brews of oracles and witches or as a trance inducing smoke, causing sensations of flying, disorientation and visions.
