IVY ( Hedera helix)
Key: Fear
The ivy is one of the few plants that can thrive in deep shade. It can only very rarely be called a tree in its own right, though some old stems are as thick as tree trunks. Ivy is a climber, using walls and other plants for support as it reaches for height and sunlight. The triangular and five-pointed leaves are evergreen and often cover the floor of woods and copses. Ivy bears clusters of yellow flowers late in October, almost the last food for many insects. The black berries ripen over the next year.
As an essence ivy is very specific in its actions. Anxiety is the state it helps to resolve. Ivy specifically works with the chakra points at the wrists that help to ease hidden fears. Placing a few drops on these points will immediately reduce stress levels.
The heart chakra and its subtle channels, the nadis, are also strengthened bringing an incresed calm and focus, as well as a greater sensitivity to one’s surroundings. There is an increased ability to face fears and clearly examine those strong feelings for the underlying reasons. Ivy helps to rationally identify emotions and needs. By acting in this way stress is released and immune system function improves.
Ivy is an essential guide and protector both in working with tree spirits and confronting one’s own inner fears successfully.
Signature: Lives in both dark and light. It flowers once it reaches the sunlight.
