LUCOMBE OAK (Quercus hispanica “Lucombeana”)
Key: Creative energy
Lucombe oak is named after an Exeter nurseryman who found a natural cross between turkey oak an cork oak. When the two original hybrids produced acorns in 1792 they were grown and distributed. There are many forms but the common Lucombe oak is fully evergreen with shiny dark green leaves and pointed teeth and has a slightly corky bark with keel-like swellings on the trunk near the branches. Other types are closer to one parent or the other with lighter, thick corky bark or not fully evergreen. It can be found in parks and gardens throughout Britain but is most common in Devon, especially in Exeter itself. Like other oak it produces clusters of yellow, male catkins in spring and female flowers that ripen into acorns enclosed in a mossy green cup during the second year.
The focus of this tree is a life-supporting creativity bringing inspiration and ideas.
The crown chakra is able to infuse the mind with the awareness of evolutionary activity. The mental body is thus energised and is enabled to act with a greater commitment for change and growth. Any state of lethargy, lack of commitment or confusion can be helped with Lucombe oak.
There is increased tolerance and kindness born of wisdom and compassion. Stressful and life- harming beliefs are able to be released by an infusion of non-aggressive awareness. This can be deeply healing.
Individual consciousness, encapsulated within the fourth, or astral, body is helped to remove fears relating to personality, past lives and life-purpose. There is a clarity of mind with a greater ability to focus and learn from experience.
At its subtlest Lucombe oak reveals the finest levels of inspiration, where creativity and creative intelligence spring from the unmanifest, absolute nature of reality. With this quality of energy accessible the full potential can be brought forward in a dynamic and energetic manner before it becomes diluted and constrained by limitations.
Lucombe oak embodies creativity, creative intelligence and manifestation of the creative urge.
Comment: Like all oaks, Lucombe oak focuses itself on creating and holding energy in a form where it can manifest on physical reality. Creativity at all levels is suggested – both reproductive, intellectual and artistic. It can be one of the primary energies for bringing dynamic clarity to the functions of the second chakra.
