MIMOSA (Acacia dealbata)
Key: Sensitivity
Also known as the silver wattle, this tree originally comes from S. E. Australia and Tasmania where it grows in mountain gullies and on the banks of streams. It is quite widely planted in southern Europe but cannot survive cold winters or exposed conditions. The mild climate in the South West of England means that it is quite a common sight to see the small, bright yellow, fragrant clusters of flowers in January and February, just after the evergreen blue-green feathery leaves begin a new growth. Mimosa can grow to 65ft. The yellow pom-pom like flowers are often used in flower arranging.
Mimosa increases the sensitivity of the nervous system to internal body stimuli. This helps to improve the flow of energy and information between different systems, encouraging a smoother functioning.
The essence affects the Small Intestine meridian and the Large Intestine meridians, particularly with those issues to do with the assimilation of food at a physical level, as well as ideas and information at a mental level and the ability, at whatever level, to let go and release what is not required. This can be of benefit in any cleansing or detoxifying process.
There is a beneficial effect on the emotions, with an increased sense of peace.
A minor chakra in the upper throat is stimulated and this gives the will to express one’s thoughts and to speak up.
The mental body is better balanced so that greater information and clarification can be received from the intuition. The subtle, causal body is steered more towards self-motivation and the power to express one’s universal nature in an individual way.
Signature: The delicate leaves and globe-like clusters of flowers. Yellow: clarity, mental organisation, identification processes.
