PLUM (Prunus domestica)

The plum is a common garden and orchard tree. Originally all plums were cultivated in the Middle East by crossing parents of different species. The plum, like its small-fruited varieties the damson and greengage, developed from crosses between the blackthorn and cherry plum. Plum flowers in April and May producing a white, five-petalled blossom that sprinkles the black branches just as the leaves are opening.
For such a small, domestic tree the plum spirit carries great healing power. The energy of plum is the transformation and transmutation of physical activity and material existence by healing, transcendent love. It can access the knowledge and understanding of creation through healing love and the desire to go beyond established boundaries.
There is a sense of freedom and space to achieve the perfect flow of information, communication and peace. It gives the space and freedom to establish peace.
Fears are easier dealt with through understanding their causes and through a clearer use of the intellect – the creative aspect of the rational mind.
The Triple Warmer and Central meridians are supported, helping to counter the ennervating emotions of shame and loneliness. There is a clearer understanding of one’s place in the universe and an increased awareness of the relationship to all created things, as well as a better ability to express what the heart feels and to experience bliss.
The throat chakra is energised strengthening the sense of personal power, allowing one to accept things as they are and help to bring about practical solutions. The base chakra is also allowed to play a greater part in practical, everyday decision-making, particularly giving access to the instincts. Although a great deal of spiritual energy is brought in with the plum essence it is directed towards dymanic and practical ends.
