TAMARISK (Tamarix gallica/anglica)
Key: Fire of transformation
Familiar on southern coastlines, especially when it bears spikes of pink flowers in summer, tamarisk originates from the Middle East where it was recognised for its medicinal properties. Tamarisk was introduced to Britain as a healing herb in 1582 and has become naturalised in coastal areas where its tolerance to salt and dry climates helps it thrive in harsh conditions. The delicate feathery foliage and mass of flowers have made varieties of tamarisk popular as garden plants. Flowering tamarisk resembles nothing so much as wafts of pink, wind-blown sea foam borne on green feathery waves.
Tamarisk essence is about understanding one’s place at the centre of creation. It brings the awareness of one’s emergence from the Absolute, and place within the Absolute, even when in the midst of the relative worlds. Because of this knowledge there is total freedom, total flexibility, complete understanding that all is possible. The divine spark leaping from the central sun of Being.
It tunes the energies of the solar plexus chakra into intelligent and evolutionary ways to direct the personal will, life-force, personality and lifestyle. It can be like harnessing for the Higher Self one’s chariot of power.
The spiritual body is cleansed and healed, which increases clarity in personal energy on the finest of levels. This will tend to cleanse and transform the ability to manifest and use the finest spiritual energies (the “ethers”), so that these can be integrated into the net of the energy field. Thus there is the possibility of deep cleansing and the healing of profound shock.
An essence for spiritual direction, freeing up energies for personal expansion and growth. Tamarisk is uplifting and helps shift age-old dross so that the true self can emerge. To paraphrase the Upanishads: “burning the seeds of karma in the furnace of Being”.
Signature: Growing by the ocean tamarisk is between two worlds, land and sea. The ocean of possibilities is within its experience and it is adapted to the force that the ocean can display.
