WHITEBEAM (Sorbus aria)

Whitebeam is native to limestone and chalk landscapes though because of its modest, neat size, resistance to pollution and attractive appearance it is widely planted in town streets and parks. Whitebeam can grow to 80ft (24m) in these situations, though it is usually smaller in the wild. It is an easily identified tree with large oval leaves that have green-grey hairy undersides. In early spring the light green buds appear like candle flames. When the new leaves are fully unfurled the umbels of creamy upright flowers open in May. These will ripen into bright scarlet berries that are rapidly eaten by birds.
Whitebeam stimulates fine levels of perception. It will energise the sacral, heart and brow chakras and a minor chakra just above the medulla oblongata, helping to balance creativity and insight with a keen awareness and alertness.
The mental and astral bodies are aligned to work with fine perceptions, so that one can begin to learn how to shift energy levels. Whitebeam brings a deeper attachment and understanding of the animal and plant kingdoms. It can also encourage contact and understanding of the natural world from the desire to be of service and to heal.
The essence increases one’s harmony with cosmic energies and it opens the heart to recognise the underlying energy that supports all life. Whitebeam in this way strengthens the personal field whilst at the same time opening it up to experience, or float between other dimensions or angles of reality. A fine tuning of the energy fields occurs so as to be able to see and hear what is usually hidden.
Signature: The ephemeral shimmering of whitebeam’s large soft leaves on a sunny spring day, particularly where the large creamy flowers are showing, makes the tree appear otherworldly, as if it is not quite all within the physical reality.
