Willow Leaved Pear (Pyrus salicifolia)
Willow–leaved pear is quite a common sight as a garden and park tree, particularly the weeping form ‘Pendula’. It is a small, neat, domed tree to 10m with grey-green woolly leaves densely covering the main branches. The leaves are long and pointed, covered in a silvery down, especially when young. The flowers arrive with the leaves. They are quite robust with five white petals and very noticeable anthers of purple red.
Willow-leaved pear is native to Siberia, Persia and the Caucasus where it grows on woodland margins and in thickets.
The Essence:
Keywords: ‘Dance of life’; security within the self; dance of joy; healing; cleansing; balanced relationship; personal power and vitality; acceptance; creative living; enjoyment of existence.
With the energy of willow-leaved pear comes a profound sense of security in oneself. This makes it possible to accept change without upset. There is an increased contentment, ease and experience of joy. Better self-awareness and flexibility give a greater possibility to act with wisdom, attuning to circumstances as they present themselves.
Willow-leaved pear focuses some of its actions on physical processes that are clearing, detoxifying, healing and purifying. This makes it a useful essence during and after periods of illness.
The Governing meridian is given stimulus that results in a more joyous expression of energy. This provides the individual with greater dynamism, a confidence when action is required, and a sharper assessment of possible risks. It also helps to temper strong and inappropriate emotional reactions by reducing frustration and anger.
The Circulation-Sex meridian (also called Heart Protector or Pericardium meridian), deals with sexual security. Willow-leaved pear focuses energy here in such a way that whenever a new start is required, especially in an emotional relationship, there is a greater self-confidence and self-awareness that allows the change to be made wisely. Fears that arise from sexual and relationship issues are lessened.
The solar plexus chakra, in particular, is energised by this tree. The chakra deals with the understanding of personal power and how to maintain energy levels. With this essence there is an ability to access finer levels of perception and intuition that help to show up what is needed to achieve growth. It becomes much easier to communicate desires and wishes, ideas and instructions to others in order to achieve personal goals.
Minor chakras are stimulated that increase self-worth and the ability to stand up for oneself. Thus, this tree’s energy would benefit those who feel inadequate and wish to withdraw from the company of others. Equally, it would be helpful for those who always need to be seen and heard and whose pride gets in the way of proper relationships. Tensions that show in the neck and shoulders often signal difficulties in communication and expression, and this essence may reduce these symptoms of stress. There is a greater ability to understand others and to create a loving and balanced relationship. Those who appear hard-hearted or insensitive, and those who feel they must please others at all times or who are very empathic, are both helped to achieve a more productive equilibrium in their emotional relationship to others.
Willow-leaved pear brings the mind to a better state of clarity and open-mindedness, cleansed of all unwanted thoughts. There is the ability to see things clearly for what they are, with no illusions.
At fine spiritual levels there is a greater integration of life-energy to personal creativity. This favours all creative actions and will help to disperse creative blocks, for example. More fundamentally, this creative energy feeds the unique expression of every individual and is essential to maintain health and vitality. It brings significant levels of protection and enhances the healing abilities of the body. The dance of life is felt within and is able to be expressed to others. Enjoyment of existence is vital to our continued existence, and this tree is very good at empowering the individual to release fear and get on with enjoying life.
Finally, willow-leaved pear brings a commitment to follow the flow of universal life, completely accepting the perfection of how things already are – in their own true states of being.
