NEW EDITION. The English Runes. (A deluxe, 76 card set of the Anglo-Saxon runes, printed both in black and in white, with 10 extra healing bindrunes).
Size: 4.75" x 2.75" (12cm x 7cm) 78 cards in all (32 x 2 runes of the full Anglo-Saxon rune row, plus x 2 the rune GAR, plus title cards, plus 10 extra unique bindrune cards for powerful healing and assessment work))
Reproduced here in a new edition as a standard tarot-size deck of cards, this is a rich and visually stimulating way to read runes, whether for divination or assessment purposes.
The deck includes the 32 characters of the full Anglo-Saxon (Northumbrian, or English) rune row. Each image explores the pattern and traditional ascribed meaning of the rune energy. In this de-luxe version there are two complete sets of the rune row, one white on black, the other black on white. This allows the reader to use the rune cards in much more flexible ways.
For instance, you can ascribe one set to have the reversed or 'difficult' meanings, making shuffling the deck less of a chore.
More significantly, some cards from one set can be pre-selected and laid down to refer to relevant circumstances in the questioner's life. Then the intuitively chosen cards can be lain on each area so designated, giving the reader a greater degree of accuracy in interpretation, with a maximum number of runes still available in the deck.
Working with two rune rows in this way greatly improves the usability of runes in this modern card form, and greatly enriches the reading experience.
Around the border are elegant mnemonic phrases and clues to different layers of interpretation, largely deriving from the euphonics found within present-day English language. (The way sounds are made by the mouth often suggests a similar type of energy experience and so words with related meanings cluster together, sometimes around ancient root words, sometimes from very different places of origin.)
Although this is not a scientific, linguistically accurate exploration, it has a certain poetic validation and is a great way to extend the interpretations given to each rune in a lively and appropriate way, whilst adhering to the traditional sources, such as the three Rune Poems.
These cards are now printed professionally printed. They are made with high quality materials and should be as sturdy for regular use in readings. All the cards derive from my original artworks and the text, too, is original and unique.
Each pack comes with a rigid card box and brief guidelines for use. There will be specific instructions as to how to use the bind runes and their meanings.
